Doctors

Why do doctors think they can only fix you with pills? I swear, every time I see a doctor, they want to shove pills down my throat. You’re feeling depressed?, take these pills. You’re feeling anxious?, take these pills. You can’t sleep?, take theses pills. Are there no other options that are actually useful? Then again, I guess if you intentionally go see a doctor, you have to know that they are going to prescribe you with some kind of medication. Right? I’m not even lying when I tell you that I can practically open my own pharmacy. I don’t want to be dependent on drugs and I don’t want to continue to suffer. You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Damn it!!!

  1. I donno, but don’t doctors talk to you about your problems before they prescribe all those pills? Even I don’t find it comfortable to eat all those pills. I prefer a doctor who talks to me about my problem and tries to treat my heart when the damage isn’t physical. Never been to a psychiatrist before, but i thought that’s what they do first before suggesting pills. OMG, In future, i am damned too. See, i’m with you. 🙂

There is so much more to my story and why there are so many pills. Some days I stare at all the bottles and think, this would be so easy, that’s my mind speaking, however, my heart won’t let me. I appreciate that. Thanks for the smile.

  2. I try to avoid pills, except for vitamin ones, and, fortunately (knock on any wood), I’m down to one pill, and I forget to take it half the time. Doctors can drive you crazy. Thank you for following me. I’m now following you.

I appreciate you reading and following as well. As far as the pills, yes, I have so many I forget what they are even for. I don’t take them regularly as prescribed by the doctors because I don’t want to be dependent on them. Hopefully I’ll be down to one like you or none one of these days. Thanks again for following. I look forward to reading more of your blog.

  3. Ahhh, I can seriously relate to this! I have just weaned myself off from duloxetine, that wasn’t helping my depression one bit. And the migraine symptoms that had plagued me most days for months disappeared.
I used amino acids and other supplements to try and rebalance my brain chemistry (after days of research, i discovered there’s a single book with all the info lol) and they were really helping.
Then my mum died and about 2 wks after that there was another loss and the drs gave me *another* pill. But I just escaped from that!!
Its all there on my blog anyway. From one insomniac to another – thank you for the follow x

I’m so sorry for your loss, my father passed as well and that sent me in a whirl wind. I’m happy to hear that you are off the meds. I have been dealing with my symptoms on and off with medication but so far have not had any luck with either method. I wish you the best. Thank you for following and I look forward to reading more of your blog.

Mine made me more paranoid than anything. I just had to stop taking them. There’s so many of them though. One for this, one for that and so on. It was hard to keep track of which ones I took and which ones I didn’t.

I’d take three any day compared to what they were trying to shove down my throat.

  7. Halleluiah ! Great post – funny – after twelve months on a cardiac medicine that had side effects which left me feeling lightheaded, fatigued, and with constant diarrhea, I successfully negotiated a $95,000 ( before insurance) procedure on my heart that has stopped the problem ( constant PVC’s). I laugh that I had to do that for relief!

But, on behalf of the physician community, doctors have a duty to offer treatment based on symptoms and have it be one that with the least risk to making someone’s health even worse.

Because my issue was a cardiac one, I deferred to my MD until just two months ago.
Of course there is the general practitioner of whom I collected all my records from and swore never to see again!

We gotta shop for the good ones…just like we would a car, ha, crazy, huh.

I hear ya! I’ve taken so many prescriptions with tons of different side affects it makes me wonder if it’s even worth it. It reminds me of the commercials on tv when they are advertising a new drug and then at the very end they run through a huge list of side affects. So, if you suffer from migraine headaches, take this but side affects include, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, loss of appetite, dry mouth, constipation, headache (which is ironic), and then the famouse, even death. REALLY?!?! Makes me laugh.

  8. Do some research on homeopathic remedies. I have a bad back/neck/leg and I see a pain management doctor. She’s always trying to shove pills down my throat as well. I’m trying the chiropractor before I take any more pills.

I have tried almost everything in the book and can’t seem to find any relief. I will continue to research, there has to be something. Maybe I just missed it or just haven’t found it yet. Thanks for the comment and for following, I appreciate it.

  10. First off, thanks for the follow. As for the pill-popping culture that pharmaceuticals and doctors have inflicted on us, I couldn’t agree more. I also feel it’s partially because of the miscommunication between patients and doctors.

There’s always been this push to sell the pills to customers, even though they could do more harm than actually help us. I’m pretty sure if my doctor had listened more carefully, he wouldn’t have put me on the same course of antibiotics for several months. In the end, I found out that they weren’t treating the problem at all.

That’s the problem I was having. Everything I was prescribed was making things worse and I didn’t feel any better. Even when I would express to them that they weren’t working, they would prescribe something else. Go figure. Thank you as well for following and commenting. I appreciate it. 😊

  11. Because Western Medicine runs on the engine of Big Pharm. The pharmaceuticals are a titanic $$$ industry. A business. If doctors actually thought to get to the root issues, past the symptoms, and cure, Big Pharm would go out of business.

    • I definitely agree with you on that. It’s sad though, because a lot of people become dependent on these drugs unnecessarily.
