What’s That Word?

How about when you’re talking and you’re looking for that one word to say, you know what you’re trying to say but just can’t remember the word.  You’d know it if you heard it.  It’s right there on the tip of your tongue but you can’t spit it out.  What’s the word I’m looking for?  Ugh…  Finally you just use another word while still trying to figure out that one word you wanted to say in the first place.  Well, could be minutes, hours or even days later and then bam!, The word comes to you.  It’s too late now.  Haha.  Ever happen to you?  Sound off….

  3. Yep, that happens to me fairly often. Surprising, since I’m an author. But I do get caught up like that once in a while. Sometimes it’ll eventually come to me, either shortly or after a long while. Other times, like when I’m writing and I get stuck, I get the thesaurus and look up a word with similar meaning to see if I can find the word I’m wanting. Oh, and I even have other people ask me what the word is that they’re looking for when they get stuck like that. Sometimes I know right off, other times it’ll take me a bit, and sometime’s I’m just clueless what they’re trying to say.

    • Hahaha. I do that in conversation also. I’ll stress out on the word I’m trying to say and then I’ll just blurt out, “What’s the word I’m looking for”? Then the person I’m talking to will say it for me. 🙂
