It bugs me when someone calls and says, “Who’s this”? I don’t know, I can’t see you!! You called me, who are you looking for? Like, ask to speak to the person you called for. It might be me, it might not be. Like, I got a call and I answered the phone and this is how the conversation went:
Caller: Who’s this?
Me: Who are you looking for?
Caller: Who is this?
Me: Who would you like to speak to?
Caller: Well, if you tell me your name, I can tell you if you’re the person I need to speak to.
Me: Excuse me! You should know who you are calling.
Caller: I know who I’m calling I just wanted to make sure I had the right number.
Me: Right!!! (Click)
Then, like five seconds go by and my phone rings again:
Caller: Is David there? (Same voice and phone number from previous caller)
Me: Sorry, there’s no David here.
Caller: Well, who’s this?
Me: The same person you called like five seconds ago.
Caller: What’s your name?
Me: I’m sorry, but, like I said, there is no David here. (Click)
The phone rings again:
Me: Hello!! (Stern voice)
Caller: Are you sure David’s not there?
Me: Look!! You’ve got the wrong number, please don’t call again.
Caller: Would you just tell me your name, I think I know who are, I just can’t remember your name.
Even when family calls, they know who they’re calling and they still say, “Who’s this”? Seriously?!?!
Just another one of those pesky pet peeves. Does it bother you or not at all? Sound off.
