Climbing The Corporate Ladder

I didn’t really have any career goals in mind. I was just kind of going with the flow. I worked a ton of different jobs, only because I am the type of person who gets bored easily. Blame it on ADHD I guess. I’m such a mess, I don’t know how I’ve made it this far in life. Anyway, every job I’ve had, I’d master it pretty quickly and would climb the company ladder, so to speak. With some jobs, the ladder wasn’t very high and that’s when I would feel the need to move on. One of my favoritest jobs was working in a fast food joint. Oh my gosh, stories for days. I had a blast working there and even though I held every position you could possibly earn there, I ended up working there for about five years. I know, that’s crazy right?! It was just such a great time, it was one of those jobs where I didn’t think of it as work, it was more like, “I wonder what’s going to happen today”. I had the opportunity to manage the evening shift and then made my way to manage the morning shift. I enjoyed both shifts because we’d get some crazy people at night and me and my crew were a pretty crazy pack ourselves. The day shift was pretty cool to because we’d be so busy that the time would fly by and before I knew it, it was time to clock out and go home. I will definitely share some of my fast food stories with you as well as stories from all my other jobs. Hold on tight, it’s going to be a bumpy ride. See you soon.

  1. I worked in a burger joint for three years . It was a blast and great preparation for all that followed it!

    • Yes indeed. I love that I experienced that. I wouldn’t change it for the world. What was the best part of working there ? What was the best experience you encountered as an employee and what is the best memory you have? Sorry for the twenty questions, I just get excited when someone else can relate.

      • I keep thinking of this post. I’d like to do a fairly long post (or maybe several stories) about my experience at the burger joint I worked in in high school. It was great fun, good life lessons, etc. I will link to this post.

But until then, here is one story I wrote about my time there: http://fiftyfourandahalf.com/2013/02/13/lessons-learned/

      • Haha, loved it. I must have had a reincarnated Barbara of my own when I started working at the fast food joint after school. She had a lot of the same values as good ol’ Barb and some extra ones of her own. Think, Barbara 2.0 haha. I’ll be sharing my stories soon, I bet you have lots more to. Keep ’em coming. 😊

  2. Looking forward to hearing about your fast food stories! And I think you’re just one of those people that need to be challenged… drone work doesn’t bode well with you. Believe me, I’ve had friends (am also one) that can’t do repetitive things too long without feeling bored.

    • Right?!?! I just haven’t found the “one” that kept me interested. 😉 I always joke with the hubby and tell him he must be doing something right if I haven’t quit him yet. Haha… I’m amazed when I hear that someone has been working with the same company for ten years plus. My hubby has been working for the same company for sixteen years, but the thing about that is, there are so many different departments and he always jumps at the chance to move around so he’s always learning. So I can understand how someone would stick around so long but when there is no more room to grow, I just don’t see being stuck there an option. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. 😊
