Hands Up

Anybody have any thoughts about this? You think it was right or wrong?

  1. I think the players have a right to free speech. And the police have a right to express their disagreement with their gesture or sentiment. Nobody deserves an apology.

    • I hear ya. I read that the rams were scared for themselves and the fans because of the rioting going on and they wanted to make sure police did all they could to protect them and then the players went ahead and put their hands up upon entering the arena. I guess the police took it as a kind of slap in the face.

  2. Yup. They absolutely have the right to do that. I support it completely.

    • What do you think about the organization that is representing the police and the demand for an apology from the players and the NFL?

      • I am so sick of hollow apologies. From anyone. Total bullshit!

      • I agree. I don’t get why anyone would want an insincere apology.

The First Amendment: Congress shall make no law…prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech…or of the right of the people to peaceably to assemble…

As American Citizens, we should NEVER have to apologize for what is our constitutional right!

    • I agree 100%. Do you think they’ll get an apology?

Why should they? They were exercising their constitutionally protected rights, which our military and law enforcement officers are sworn to defend & uphold.

For full disclosure, I am a proponent of the 1st and 2nd amendments and feel that they should not be limited.

That being said, my personal beliefs about “Ferguson” are a whole different matter.

      • They shouldn’t, but aren’t people in the public eye always apologizing? They have to say sorry for things they said that might have offended someone else even if it it’s something they feel or believe. And as far as the Ferguson situation goes, what are your beliefs in that regard?

I prefer to not get into an extended discussion, especially with something as toxic as this topic. However I will say this (my comments are for both sides of the discussion):

        1. EVERYONE should be held accountable.
        2. Don’t demand the truth if you are not prepared for it.
        3. Don’t make a saint out of a sinner.
        4. Gun control is not the problem nor the solution.
        5. Perception is not reality.
        6. There are always two sides to every story.
        7. Everyone (including the media) has an agenda.

        and finally two more thoughts…

If you don’t want to be treated like an “idiot”, then don’t act like one (replace “idiot” with any adjective you choose).

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.

      • Well put. I couldn’t agree more. Especially that last thought.
