La Llorona (The Weeping Woman)
Have you ever heard the story about La Llorona (The weeping woman)? It’s a Mexican legend of a woman who drowned her babies to be with a man. The man didn’t want her so she drowned herself and was cursed to walk the earth until she finds all her babies. Something like that. It’s said that you can hear her screams and cries near bodies of water. Well, I was thinking back about a time when I was with my parents and some other family members. We were somewhere in the mountains on our way back home from a trip out of town and it was the dead of night. Pitch black no other cars in sight. So the scenery was already creepy, then my parents start talking about this weeping woman. All of a sudden the car comes to a stop, and the lights cut off. My dad said, “I think we just ran out of gas”. My dad rolls the windows down and tells us all to be quiet. We were as silent as could be. We heard this terrifying howl. My dad said, “it’s her, Can you hear her”? At that moment my siblings started to cry and I was looking around thinking she was going to appear before us, but I didn’t see anything. I’m not one who scares easily. So it didn’t bother me because I’m just weird like that. But my siblings? They were so scared. Then, my dad turns on the car and the lights and he’s laughing his head off. Said, “I’m kidding, that’s a wolf and we’re not out of gas. Very funny dad. NOT!!!! Who does that?!?!
